Hi thereβIβm the mom behind Kidβs Katch Cape Cod.
When my kids were little, we spent our best days outdoorsβdigging for clams at low tide, chasing crabs through the shallows, and fishing off docks with tangled lines and big grins. It wasnβt fancy or plannedβit was just us, soaking in the salt air, laughing, learning, and making memories.
Now that my kids are grown, I look back on those simple moments with so much gratitude. They not only sparked their lifelong love for nature and the Cape, they gave us the kind of quality time that canβt be scheduled or bought.
As a cancer survivor, Iβve learned to cherish time even more. Thatβs part of what inspired me to create Kidβs Katchβa place to encourage people to slow down, get outside, and find joy in the little things.
Whether you live on the Cape or youβre just visiting, this site is designed to make outdoor adventures simple, doable, and meaningful.
This idea goes back years, when my daughter Kirsten inspired me to share the joy of connecting with nature. She loved being outdoorsβfishing, digging in the sand, and exploring Cape Codβs tidal flats.
Her passion even caught national attention. She competed in the famous Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth, which draws over 5,000 serious anglers and a $25,000 top prize. In the middle of all those hardcore fishermen, Kirsten stood outβlanding a prize-winning bluefish that made headlines.
The story spread far and wide. She was featured in local and national news stories encouraging kids to get outdoors, and when she caught that fish, The Tony Danza Show even surprised her by having it mounted as a trophy.
She was only 12 years old, about to start 7th grade, when she landed that fish. The tournament ran all weekend, but Kirsten could only fish the first dayβbecause she had to get ready for school. Even with homework waiting, she still outshined thousands of anglers.
Moments like that showed me how powerful outdoor adventures can be for building confidence, curiosity, and joy. Those experiences planted the seed that grew into Kidβs Katch.
